A step-by-step look at what happens when you pull into a Tooru location — from plate read to gate open to automatic billing on exit.
Four steps. Three seconds. Zero interaction required from you.
As you approach the entrance lane, a Tooru ANPR camera captures your license plate and matches it to your member account in under 300 milliseconds — before you've even slowed down.
The moment your plate is matched, a signal is sent to the barrier and it lifts. No button to press. No ticket to grab. No window to roll down. Plate read to gate open — under 3 seconds.
Tooru logs your entry time and tracks the session in the background. You park, head to your destination, and come back whenever you're ready. The system is watching the exit — not you.
When your plate appears at the exit, the session closes, your rate is calculated, and your saved card is charged automatically. A digital receipt goes to your email. The gate opens. You drive away.
You only ever need to do this once. After that, every Tooru location in the US, Canada, or Australia recognises you automatically.
Email, name, password. Takes about 30 seconds.
Type your plate number. Add multiple vehicles on one account.
Credit or debit card, secured by Stripe. We never store card numbers directly.
Every Tooru location recognises your plate automatically from this point on.
The gate won't open automatically, but we display a fallback QR code at entry. Scan it, log in manually, and you're in. This happens in under 1% of sessions — usually obscured or temporary plates.
No. Tooru works entirely without an app. The camera does everything. We offer an optional app for session history and receipts, but you'll never need it to park.
At Tooru locations we have a 15-minute grace period. Signage at the lot directs unregistered drivers to register via QR code on the spot before exiting.
No. Plates are stored as encrypted hashes — not readable text. If you close your account, all data is deleted within 30 days. We never share plate data with any third party.
Each plate can only be tied to one active Tooru account. Anyone trying to register your plate would need access to your email to verify ownership. We also monitor for duplicate attempts.
